Series 01 was built from 1984. It has an aluminum body with large windows, greatly modernizing the old Ginza Line. A total of 38 trainsets were built. The first 23 trainsets did not have air conditioning initially. Except for two trainsets with inverter-controlled motors, most have chopper controllers.
