Metro in Amsterdam mainly runs overground. Some trains run through tram line as 'sneltram' (rapid tram). While vehicles equipped with folding steps and pantagraphs can be used as sneltram, others are dedicated to the metro services. M1-M3 is the first metro rolling stocks in Amsterdam with a wide body. They cannot run Sneltram lines, but their occupancy is more than that of other vehicle types.アムステルダムのメトロは、地下を走る区間よりも高架鉄道の区間が長く、またSneltram(シュネルトラム・快速トラム)としてトラムに直通する系統もあります。メトロと快速トラムは車体幅、終電方式・電圧が異なり、メトロの区間のみを走る車両にはMから始まる形式が、トラムの区間も走れる形式にはSから始まる形式が付けられています。M1-M3はアムステルダム初の地下鉄車両で、ヨーロッパでは珍しいステンレス車です。当初はシルバーを主体にドア・車体裾がオレンジに塗り分けられていましたが、2006年現在、アムステルダム交通局の青を基調とした塗装に変更され始めています。
