Series 817 are in service since 2001. Based on series 815, series 817 are equipped with direction-changeable seats with black-based color schema. They can be seen in Chikuho line, Sasaguri line (name 'Fukuhoku Yutaka Line' are used for these two lines), as well as Nagasaki area.817系は、JR九州の地方都市圏・ローカル線用電車の決定版として 2001 年に製造されました。815系を基本としつつも、黒をベースとしたデザインに革張りの転換クロスシートを備え、より洗練された印象を受けます。筑豊本線・篠栗線で用いられているほか、長崎地区にも投入されています。ワンマン運転にも対応します。
