Series 5500, built from 1995, are designed for local serivces with high acceleration power. The first group took turns with damaged stocks in the great Hanshin Earthquake. They are the first group having inverter motors and bolster-less bogies. A number of 26 cars are used in the Hanshin main line.阪神5500系は1995年に登場しました。阪神大震災による普通車の廃車(8両) の補充のほか、5151、5261,5311形の置き換え用として36両が製造されました。阪神初のインバータ制御、ボルスタレス台車を採用し、塗装も水色と白に変わりました。1編成4両全車が4台のモーターを持ち、高速域まで高い加速度を持ちます。
