JR-Kyushu

JR Kushu are well-known for unique trains in Japan. Most of them are designed by Eiji Mitoka.

JR Kyushu Series 811

JR Kyushu Series 811

Class 811 is the first regional trainsets of JR Kyushu. Since it is dewsigned for Fukuoka city commuter traffic, it does not support DC power supply (used in Honshu). Although its frontmask was unique when it appeared, now this series is rather unimposing compared to series 813 and 817.

JR Kyushu Series 813

Class 813 is designed for Fukuoka area. The front shape is simpler than series 811, but the design is more appearing because of its vivid red outfit. More than 200 cars are manufactured in 15 years, and now they are the main force in Kagoshima line in Fukuoka area.

JR Kyushu Series 815

Series 815 run Kumamoto area in Kagoshima line and Hohi Line since 1999. It adopted Hitachi's A-Train design, with which most of the interior components are devided into large modules, jointed with large bolts to the body. Although its seat arrangement is normal side-seat, its design is very unique.

JR Kyushu Series 817

Series 817 are in service since 2001. Based on series 815, series 817 are equipped with direction-changeable seats with black-based color schema. They can be seen in Chikuho line, Sasaguri line (name "Fukuhoku Yutaka Line" are used for these two lines), as well as Nagasaki area.

Orio Station

Orio Station

At Orio station, Chikuho line and Kagoshima line cross. 50 years ago, many freight train filled with coal had passed by here. Now, Limited express and rapid trains are going through this station, but the station's old building structures are the same.

Series 2000 has been in services since 1974. Its cabin has central console style, which is unique in Japan. It had two doors in a side, and mostly used for limited exrpess from Fukuoka to Omuta. After series 8000 has built, they are converted to express services, now being withdrwan.

Series 3000 are in express services since 2005. One trainset consists of 2, 3 and 4 cars, used for every class services. They have stainless body with blue and orange stripe, with cross seats inside. They take turns of old series 2000, providing good acomodation for competition to JR.

Series 5000 is the largest group in Nishitetsu (136 cars). Since 1975, the series are built to enforce commuter services. Based on preveous series 600 and 700, series 5000 adopted a curved winded windshield only in the dirver side (on the left). They are mainly used in local services.

Series 6000, built in 1993, are similar to series 5000, but it has 4 doors in a side with smaller windows. Series 6050 are the first inverter-controlled series in Nishitetsu, with the same body as series 6000. They are merged and used for commuter trains in Tenjin-omuta line.

Series 7000 and 7050 are commuter trains. They are the last series built with a steal body with blue outfit. Motors are inverter controlled, interiror are side seats style. While series 7000 has 4 doors in a side, 7050 has 3 doors. With two-car-trainset, they are used in Amagi line and Omuta area.

Most limited express in Tenjin-omuta Line are served by series 8000 from 1989. It has winded large windshield and comfortable large seats. A trainset consists of 6 cars, which is the longest in Nishitetsu. Newer express 3000 are put into service, but series 8000 still occupies the flagship position.

Nishitetsu Kaiduka Line

Kaiduka line the only Nishitetsu line with 1067mm gauge. Staring from Kaiduka, the terminal of Fukuoka Subway, the line runs along with JR Kagoshima Line to Nishitetsu Shingu. Series 600 and 313 have been converted from Omuta Line. Train runs every 10 minutes at morning, every 15 minutes in daytime.

Kuko / Hakozaki Line

Kuko / Hakozaki Line

Kuko line and Hakozaki line opened in 1981. It starts from Fukuoka Airport and Kaiduka, running through JR Chikuhi Line from Meinohama. Stocks of Fukuoka subway are series 1000 and 2000, which have stanless body and blue line. JR Series 103-1500 and 303 are also seen.

Nanakuma Line

Nanakuma Line

Subway Nanakuma Line opened in 2005. It employs linear drive and small body, with automated controll system. The only stock being used are series 3000, designed by Alexander Neumann and built by Hitachi. Its cabin is opened for passengers when not used by conductors. Color schema is green.
