For a long time, S-tog in Copenhagen was operated mainly with 2nd generation vehicles, but new prototype cars (3rd generation) were introduced at 1979 to prepare for the extension. After some testing, 48 cars were adopted, but the 2nd generation type still stayed at its position. The 3rd generation vehicles are characterized by cardin suspension and non-wooden interior. Comparing to the 4th generation, it has very orthodox style.デンマーク・コペンハーゲンのS-tog(エストー)は、長く第二世代の車両を中心として運用されてきましたが、路線の拡充に備えるため、第三世代として1979年の試作車が、1986年に量産車が登場しました。ただ本格的量産には至らず、試作車16両・量産車32両にとどまっています。また、試作車は1995年に廃車されてしまいました。S-tåg初めてのカルダン車で、車内も第二世代に比べて近代化されています。車番は6001-6008, 6501-6508で、4両ユニットを組みます。
